I'm a cheap knitter: I don't buy patterns and I knit with whatever cheap materials I can find. While my projects are not as pretty as they could be, I enjoy my hobby and get to wear my creations. People actually wear my gifts. What else could I hope for?

Frankenstraps
Remember the Frankenbag? I'm working again on the straps:
Here's a picture of my spinning wheel, finally at home and in working condition (I hope).
I still haven't tested it, maybe I'm putting it off because I'm afraid it will not work... Well, at least it looks good, doesn't it?
I don't like the provisional cast on method because I get a twisted toe. I like the short row toe instead. You can find instructions for both (again from Wendy) in Knitty:

It's gorgeous! I agree - even if it doesn't work, it definitely adds to your decor!
I just got an antique wheel myself. Now I'm trying to get it up and running. I'll post pictures of it soon.
Hi Pioggia, Me again. I've heard about the toe-up socks but haven't seen a pattern yet. Any ideas where I can get such a thing? Thanks for your help.
Hi Michele, here's Wendy's toe-up pattern:
