Trying a different craft...

In in addition to volunteering with the literacy program, I found something else to do with my time. This is a sample of what I've produced:

I've made other things but trust me, you don't want to see them. These are hashi-oki, or chopstick rests, which can also be used as fork or spoon rests.

I'm working again on the yellow socks, and I also added a few bands of white merino to the doggy rug:

Love the little chopstick rests! Are you taking a class, or do you already know how to do pottery?

I took ceramics in art school as a major for a year and ironically sucked at it. I tried for the whole year to create on decent mug or vase on the wheel and it never happened. I created everything by hand methods, like coil and slab pots. Of course my other major was textiles which I was much better at.

Oh, I took ceramics for 3 semesters in college. You did a really great job on the glazing and spoon rests are so useful! I loved ceramics and still have quite a few of my bowls.

Those hashi-oki are really nice! Love to hear how you did that and what other ceramic things you've attempted thus far. Hope you continue to explore in other media.
